Brief :

The Hydraulic Research Center (HRC The Hydraulic Research Center) is a leading center for water research activities in Sudan located in Wad Medani. It is one of the general directorates of the Ministry of Water Resources and Electricity and represents its research arm. The Hydraulics Research Center was established in 1976 with generous assistance from the United Nations Development Program to support the sustainable development and management of national water resources. The hydraulic research center development as a project with the assistance of the United Nations Development Program / UNESCO was completed in 1986. By that time all responsibilities had been handed over to the hydraulic research center. Over the years, the authority has established an impressive record of research achievements in areas such as river training, sediment transport and management, irrigation engineering and management, and water resource planning and management. The Hydraulic Research Center earned this reputation from long practice, experience and excellent performance in solving real life problems. There is a strong link between applied research activities and the needs of the National Water Research Center and the Ministry of Water Resources and Electricity. In addition, the Human Rights Committee conducts studies for other ministries, governmental and non-governmental bodies and consulting firms. Technical training and international cooperation in river engineering topics have also been beneficial in building institutional capacity and sustaining technology transfer programs.

Conducting scientific research in the fields of hydraulic installations, irrigation equipment, riverbeds, the effects of floods, silting and everything related to the development, modernization and operation of irrigation facilities and water resources.
