Brief
It is a center established in the year 2016 and affiliated to the Ministry of Water Resources, Irrigation and Electricity after the approval of the Council of Ministers at the meeting held at the Umm Dabaker Thermal Station
The study of the establishment of the center was prepared by a team of international experts dispatched by UNESCO in conjunction with a number of national experts at the request of His Excellency the President of the Republic in 2006
The center is interested in all areas of research with regard to water resources in the country and its structure includes multiple departments such as: hydrology and water basins, irrigation and drainage studies, groundwater studies, river engineering, drinking water and sanitation, environmental, social and economic studies, integrated management of water resources, engineering studies of dams.
Specialties:
- Managing scientific research and raising the country's capabilities in the field of water through:
Determining priorities, finding funding opportunities, and formulating research projects
Preparing the necessary documents for submitting research projects to national and international bodies through competition or any other appropriate form
Evaluating the offers submitted to conduct research projects
Conclude necessary contracts and manage the implementation of research projects
Contribute to raising public awareness of water issues by spreading appropriate knowledge.
- To enhance the conduct of research projects in the field of water and to ensure the provision of necessary and sufficient data and information to perform this research, the Center undertakes the task of approving the request for this information and data for the purpose of conducting the research project and collecting the outputs of the research project and including it in the research database.
Developing and building databases in the field of knowledge related to water in the country, coordinating with all relevant research and scientific bodies, and managing the process of disseminating and disseminating this knowledge and science and placing it within the reach of researchers and practitioners.
- Building a database of national research resources from research institutions and other human resources, research infrastructure and independent researchers.
- Strengthening the role of scientific research partnerships in the country, locally and internationally, and encouraging research projects of a regional nature for the purpose of achieving cooperation, exchanging knowledge and experiences, and strengthening the country's leadership role in the region.
